Coach Taylor has lead the Spartans as the Head Football Coach for the past two seasons. 2010 starts his 13th year on the coaching staff at Skyline, where he is also a Special Education teacher. Along with his family – wife Katie, and sons Jackson and Cole – Coach Taylor enjoys fishing and duck hunting. He has earned both the Washington State Coach of the Year and the Seahawks Coach of the Week honors, among others. His focus is on making the football experience the best is can be for the player, as well as making sure they give back to the community. He leads an extraordinary group of coaches that also have experience and great values to share.

Coach Chmiel was Skylines Defensive Coordinator last year and brings 18 years of experience to the Spartans, including time at Lake Washington and Eastside Catholic. He brought a new defensive scheme with him last year which players have adapted too. He became a high school coach because his own experience as a high school player wasn’t very positive. He learned to play hockey at the age of 3 and still enjoys it. Coach Chmiel is married to his wife Lori and has a son Mathias and twin daughters Elliana and Emma. Coach Chmiel works for Microsoft.

In his 13th Season coaching at Skyline, Coach Collins now works with the offensive line. During his tenure as a high school coach he coached 18 years at district rival, Issaquah, where he also played offensive line and linebacker. At most games his sons TJ and Chad are cheering from the sidelines. In the stand sit many families who know Tom from their youth football experiences in the community. His commitment and support of youth is also evident in his work at Skyline High School as an education assistant with special needs kids. Coach Collins has been chosen KingCo Assistant Coach of the Year.
In his second year with Skyline, Coach Johnson brings 15 years of helping high school athletes at Bethel, Kentlake and Eastlake High Schools. He has acclimated well with the players to adjust the game plan to a new defense. He brings with him the youngest Spartan, his son Caleb and his wife Kelley. Off the field he is employed at Microsoft and tries to spend his spare time as a avid fly fisherman.
In his 13th year of coaching Coach Hasson has recorded many undefeated seasons with the freshmen and Junior varsity, in addition to working with the varsity every year they have gone into the playoffs. Along with his wife Kim he has three children, Jessica, Kendahl, Aaron and a son-in-law Marvin and two grandchildren Payton and Kason. You may see some special glimpses of Coach Hasson with players from time to tome – he’s been known to lay in the middle of the Spartan head on his back in deep discussions. Coach Hasson works for Boeing.

After starting his coaching career at Whitworth College where he also played, Coach Snell joined the Varsity staff in 2008. Watch him at practice an you’ll see him run post patterns with players. As a Spartan alumnus (2000 state championship team) he knows what it means to be committed to success and pushes his players to excel. He is often seen with his girlfriend Holly and his dog Titan. His parents Jim and Julie are often at games. His brother Ryan is also an alumni player from Skyline. Coach Snell is a Special Education teacher at Beaver Lake Middle School.
Coach Thorsen is an alumni player from the 200 State Championship team and is in his 9th year of coaching at Skyline, including 6 years with the freshman. Besides working of defense he signals in the offensive plays of Friday nights. He is known for his humor, enthusiastic following of Notre Dame Football and his English bulldog – Walter Jones. His parents Pam and Steve and girlfriend Alia are always in the stands. He plays and intense game of Madden football with his brother Chris when he’s not working at the Pro Club in Bellevue.
Coach Van Voorhis is in his second season with the Spartans coaching previously at Eastside Catholic and Lake Washington where he also played. He is known for his intensity during practice and games and usually can be heard even over the crowd noise. He maintains that the biggest influence on his coaching career has been from his father Paul and Coach Chmiel. Coach Van Vooris and his wife Stephanie live in Bothell and he is a design engineer for Kenworth Trucks.
