Peyton Pelluer, Max Browne Shine in Bowl Games
Though neither West team won in either the Semper Fidelis or U.S. Army All-American bowl games this weekend, Skyline football standouts were recognized for their contributions.
Skyline seniors Peyton Pelluer and Max Browne stepped up in the Semper Fidelis and U.S Army All-American bowl games, respectively, although both West teams lost to their East opponents.
Pelluer competed for the West in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl, racking up six tackles in the Jan. 4 game, which East won in the final minutes, 17-14. The 247 Sports website cited Pelluer as a candidate for top performer recognition.
Saturday, Jan. 5, Max Browne threw the West's sole touchdown in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, after being named National Player of the Year by the organization the night before. CBS Sports highlighted Browne's performance, suggesting that after USC's recent QB problems at the Sun Bowl, he might be called on to start in his freshman year. The touchdown wasn't enough, however, as the East team took the game 15-8.
The bowl games represent the first losses of the year for Pelluer and Browne, after Skyline's 14-0 season, ending with the state WIAA title.
